It was made in 1991, two years after the first game was released. Monkey Island 2 is the second in LucasArts Monkey Island series. The game features hand-painted graphics, many new locations, and plenty of challenging puzzles to solve. It utilizes the same command-based SCUMM interface (you click the verb, then click on the object you want to interact with) and branching dialogue system (while talking to other characters, you choose one of possible responses) that were used in its predecessor. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is an adventure game which is a sequel to The Secret of Monkey Island.

Will Guybrush be able to defeat his archenemy again? His subordinates are trying to bring him back from the dead one more time. But the restless pirate spirit won't let Guybrush in peace! Things don't go very well with Elaine, and Guybrush (now with a beard) embarks on a new adventure: searching for the legendary treasure of Big Whoop! However, the evil ghost pirate LeChuck hasn't left the stage yet. Guybrush Threepwood, the mighty pirate who can hold his breath for ten minutes, could have lived quietly and happily with his sweetheart Elaine, the governor of Melee Island. While the point-and-click play mechanics are identical to its predecessor, Monkey Island 2 features a few notable changes, including 256-color artwork, an interactive reggae soundtrack, and an optional easy mode. Collect an assortment of offbeat items, from a used hanky to a clean white shirt, to work your way out of various predicaments. Monkey Island 2 has you solving a variety of humorous puzzles while guiding Guybrush Threepwood through the storyline's four chapters: Largo Embargo, Four Map Pieces, LeChuck's Fortress, and Dinky Island. Now it's a race between Threepwood and LeChuck to recover the treasure and compete their destinies. Fame and fortune seeker Threepwood sets his sights on the mysterious treasure of Big Whoop, which is rumored to have special powers - powers that might finally put an end to a certain apparition's relentless pursuit. Unfortunately for him, evil ghost pirate LeChuck has returned as well.

Young swashbuckler Guybrush Threepwood returns in this sequel to 1990's The Secret of Monkey Island.
